Field Adjuster – Honolulu, Hawaii

Join a Great Team. Build Your Career. Make a Difference.

Heritage Insurance is part of Heritage Companies, a growing family of insurance companies with a shared commitment to protecting the communities we serve. As a super-regional coastal property & casualty insurer, we understand the unique challenges faced by homeowners and businesses in coastal markets—and we’re proud to be there when our policyholders need us most.

We believe great insurance starts with great people. Our culture is collaborative, customer-focused, and built around doing the right thing for our policyholders and each other. We offer excellent benefits, competitive compensation, opportunities for professional growth, and a supportive team environment where your expertise is valued.

We are looking for an experienced Field Adjuster to join our team in the Honolulu area.

About the Role

As a Field Adjuster, you’ll be responsible for handling moderate-complexity, first-party property claims that require on-site inspections and hands-on expertise. You’ll investigate losses, assess damage, prepare estimates, evaluate coverage, and negotiate fair and appropriate settlements.

This is a highly visible, field-facing role. You’ll interact directly with policyholders, contractors, public adjusters, attorneys, vendors, and other professionals—often helping people navigate the claims process during some of the most stressful moments in their lives.

The ideal candidate brings strong property claims experience, sound technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while remaining a trusted representative of Heritage.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct thorough on-site property inspections, including accurate scoping, photography, documentation, and preparation of written or computer-assisted estimates.
  • Investigate and evaluate first-party property claims to determine coverage, damages, and claim exposure.
  • Review policies, leases, contracts, by-laws, and other documentation to evaluate claim validity and coverage.
  • Communicate professionally, clearly, and empathetically with policyholders, public adjusters, contractors, attorneys, vendors, and internal partners.
  • Use industry-standard claims estimating tools and technology to prepare, review, and validate estimates.
  • Partner with internal specialists, including Subrogation and Fire/Fraud Investigations, when appropriate.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely claim documentation and activity notes in accordance with company standards.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves, updating them as new information becomes available.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and professional claim correspondence, including Reservation of Rights and denial letters.
  • Negotiate settlements within established authority levels and appropriately escalate complex or high-exposure matters.
  • Represent Heritage in legal and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including depositions, Examinations Under Oath (EUOs), mediations, and trials, as needed.
  • Stay informed about construction practices, repair methodologies, local labor and material costs, and market conditions.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to questions from policyholders, customers, and internal business partners.
  • Identify and report safety, regulatory, or compliance concerns.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory, with occasional travel outside the region.
  • Participate in catastrophe (CAT) and surge operations, which may require extended hours, overnight travel, and temporary reassignment.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Hawaii adjuster licensing must be obtained and maintained.
  • Minimum 5 years of property claims experience, including field adjusting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve property claims.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • A customer-first mindset and the professionalism to remain calm and empathetic in high-pressure or emotionally challenging situations.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing a mobile, field-based schedule.
  • Ability to climb, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, with occasional travel outside the region.
  • Successful completion of required pre-employment drug testing and health screening.
