Heritage Medical Associates, P.C. is a growing primary care practice in Rhode Island, offering insurance-based and concierge services. We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! Our offices are conveniently located in Pawtucket and Providence, with most visits and our daily operations taking place in our office at the Moshassuck Medical Center.
In this position, you will be responsible for phone calls, scheduling, prior authorizations (medications and diagnostic imaging), cleaning exam rooms between patients, and much more. The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) position is full time: 40hrs/wk Monday-Friday with opportunities for overtime. Duties
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature accurately.
- Perform EKGs and in-office urinalyses to be read by the physicians.
- Support physicians with clinical tasks, such as administering injections, following proper protocols.
- Operate and maintain EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient information, especially at the beginning of each visit.
- Assist with ICD coding and ensure proper documentation for billing and medical records.
- Contact insurance companies, via provider portal or customer service, to verify benefits prior to scheduling new patient and follow up appointments.
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions and ensuring comfort during visits.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety standards.
- Answer incoming calls with a professional and friendly tone and create a comfortable office environment by welcoming patients as they enter the waiting room.
- Gather and send pertinent medical record information to insurance companies in order to obtain prior authorizations for medications or diagnostic imaging.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program, or have at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in clinical settings such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency departments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and ICD 10 coding.
- Experience working with EHR systems; experience with eClinicalWorks preferred.
- Basic life support and CPR certifications preferred.
- Strong patient service skills with excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
