Medical Records Assistant

Job Duties

• Create new medical records and retrieves existing medical records by gathering appropriate record folders and contents.
• Responsible for maintaining the files included in a patient's health information portfolio, including medical history, symptoms, examination results, diagnostic tests, treatment methods, and other services.
• Responsible to ensure files are accurate, filled out properly, organized, and secure.
• Code patients’ medical information for reimbursement purposes.
• Medical record copying
• Scans and sends documents as requested
• Schedules appointments
• Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics
• Manage the charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately
• Electronically send prescriptions in the EHR (Electronic Health Record) to pharmacies.
  
  

Requirements

Must have at least 1 year experience as a medical records assistant in a skilled nursing facility.

Must have excellent attention to detail.

Must be a team player and have a can-do attitude.
