What You’ll Do:
As our Staff Accountant, you’ll bring structure to our financial reporting, streamline the month-end close process, and ensure accurate and complete financial data for our communities by:
- Monthly Close & Financial Statement Preparation
- Preparing and recording month-end journal entries (accruals, reclasses, payroll entries, etc.).
- Reviewing and analyzing monthly community financial statements to ensure all revenue and expenses are accurately accounted.
- Recording and maintaining financial data through the collection, classification, and reconciliation of financial data to ensure accuracy.
- General Ledger & Account Reconciliation
- Reconciling monthly bank statements and balance sheets to confirm all asset and liability transactions are represented in the financial statements.
- Reconciling general ledger accounts including cash, loans, payroll, and intercompany balances/payables.
- Monitoring intercompany activity and assisting with reconciliation, settlement, and payment processing.
- Reviewing capital expenditure invoices and ensuring proper coding and approval.
- Analysis & Team Collaboration
- Preparing monthly P&L variance explanations for community and regional leadership.
- Supporting the Assistant Controller and Controller with ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Working closely with the Assistant Controller, Controller, and operational leadership to define financial activities and adjusting strategy when needed.
