In-Home Caregiver
Pay: $15–20/hour (based on experience)
We are looking for a compassionate, dependable caregiver to provide one-on-one care for our grandmother, who is living with the effects of a stroke and dementia. Our goal is to help her remain safe, comfortable, and engaged in the familiarity of her own home.
The ideal candidate is patient, kind, and enjoys building meaningful relationships while providing respectful, attentive care that encourages independence whenever possible.
Schedule
- Flexible based on your availability
- 3–5 days per week
- Start time: 8:00–9:00 AM
- End time: 3:00–5:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and personal hygiene, and mobility assistance and safe transfers.
- Administer prescribed medications.
- Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch while encouraging good nutrition and hydration.
- Provide companionship through conversation, activities, and social engagement.
- Use patience, reassurance, and dementia-friendly communication techniques to reduce confusion and anxiety.
- Observe and report changes in health, mood, or behavior to family members.
- Perform light housekeeping related to her care, including: Laundry, washing dishes, tidying living spaces and maintaining a clean, safe environment
- Communicate regularly with family about daily activities, concerns, and observations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a caregiver, home health aide, personal care aide, or in an assisted living, nursing home, or memory care setting is highly preferred
- CNA, medical, or other healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience caring for individuals with dementia is preferred but not required.
- Experience safely assisting with transfers and using a gait belt is preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely assist with mobility and other physical caregiving tasks.
- Dependable, patient, compassionate, and trustworthy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
