As the Director of People and Community Advancement, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Heritage Health’s workforce and community engagement initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring that our internal culture aligns with our external reputation, advancing Heritage Health’s mission to deliver person-centered, integrated care for all. Reporting to the Chief Deputy Director, you will oversee Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, Outreach, and Philanthropy/Development. By fostering collaboration across these teams, you will strengthen recruitment and retention, build community trust, and support long-term organizational growth. The Director plays a pivotal role in aligning people, culture, and community strategies with Heritage Health’s organizational priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in HR, Marketing, Development, or Community Relations—preferably in an FQHC or healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams, advancing culture initiatives, and fostering community partnerships.
Your Essential Duties:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a unified People and Community Advancement strategy that integrates HR, Marketing/Communications, Outreach, and Fundraising initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership to align workforce planning, employee engagement, and community presence with organizational goals.
- Serve as a key advisor on culture, talent, and community perception, ensuring all activities reflect Heritage Health’s mission and values.
Human Resources Leadership
- Oversee recruitment, retention, compensation, benefits, and performance management programs to attract and retain high-performing, mission-driven talent.
- Lead employee engagement, recognition, and leadership development initiatives that reinforce a culture of belonging and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws, HRSA workforce requirements, and FQHC standards.
Marketing, Communications, and Brand Stewardship
- Direct brand strategy, internal and external communications, digital presence, and community messaging to strengthen visibility and patient trust.
- Oversee media relations, social media engagement, advertising, and internal communications to ensure consistent storytelling across platforms.
- Collaborate with clinical and operations leaders to promote key programs, service lines, and community impact initiatives.
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, social service agencies, local governments, and community organizations to support population health efforts.
- Monitor outreach performance metrics and ensure alignment with HRSA community engagement standards.
Fundraising and Development
- Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropy strategy, including grants, donor relations, and community giving campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Heritage Health Foundation (if applicable) to expand funding opportunities supporting mission-aligned programs.
- Ensure donor stewardship practices and communications reflect organizational transparency and gratitude.
Organizational Stewardship
- Develop and monitor department budgets, ensuring alignment with financial sustainability and HRSA cost principles.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that strengthen internal collaboration and data-driven decision-making.
- Represent the organization at community, state, and national meetings as a champion of workforce and community health excellence.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

- Comprehensive knowledge of HR leadership, employment law, HRSA/FQHC requirements, and workforce development practices.

- Demonstrated leadership ability to guide multidisciplinary teams, develop talent, and influence organizational culture.

- Ability to analyze data and metrics to inform decisions, improve programs, and align initiatives with organizational priorities.
- Skilled in managing budgets, complex projects, and cross-functional initiatives in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to represent the organization publicly and build trust with community stakeholders, donors, and partner agencies.
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in a typical interior, office work environment in an administrative building. Work may be demanding and chaotic at times. May be exposed to patient population that will present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries and emotional states of mind.
Physical/Mental Requirements:

Salary : $130,702 - $186,029
