Duties
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for patient visits.
- Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately.
- Assist healthcare providers with procedures, including phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and basic life support when needed.
- Manage electronic health records (NextGen Office) by documenting patient information, medical history, and treatment details precisely.
- Perform patient intake by gathering medical histories, updating records, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure patient comfort and understanding.
- Support medical office management tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical records in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various settings like emergency medicine, geriatrics, or medical-surgical units to deliver exceptional patient service.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role within a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and EMR/EHR systems.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus.
- Experience working in specialized environments such as dermatology clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including geriatrics and inpatient care.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings like emergency medicine or hospital environments requiring adaptability and teamwork.
