What you will be doing
The Facilities Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the overall safety, appearance, and hospitality of Heritage Community of Kalamazoo. This position helps ensure a welcoming and well-maintained environment for residents, visitors, and staff through daily facilities tasks and real-time communication with various departments and outside contractors. The Facilities Assistant is expected to maintain clean, organized work areas, demonstrate exceptional professionalism, and provide thorough documentation and follow-through on all assigned tasks.
Key responsibilities include supporting campus upkeep through snow removal, salting entrances, landscaping, and general cleanliness; completing minor routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks through the work order system; and managing trash, recycling, and waste areas. This role also responds to emergencies and takes appropriate action when encountering unsafe situations, which may include providing basic CPR/AED assistance or using evacuation equipment. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe, positive environment for all who visit or live on campus.
