Overview
Heritage Christian Services is seeking candidates for the Senior Direct Support Professional position. In this role you will be responsible for supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Senior Direct Support Professional serves as role model for other support staff and provides support to a variety of day habilitation locations as determined by the Associate Director. The Senior Direct Support Professional implements habilitation plans and all other support plans for each person throughout all on-site and community-based activities.
The start pay for position: $18.05 / hr
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Responsibilities
Implement each individual’s habilitation plan as designed by that individual, the Habilitation Manager and support team and document accordingly.
Follow consistent educational programs using person-centered planning. These programs, both formally and informally, seize every opportunity to promote individual growth.
Provide the primary health, personal care, and physical care needed by the individual as written. As needed, assists with individual rehabilitation and appointments. This may include lifting or transferring of individuals that utilize wheelchairs and providing other assistance as needed.
Supports individuals in full citizenship within their community: engaging in productive, meaningful activities, engaging in community participation and contribution, and developing meaningful relationships.
Provide safe transportation for the individuals supported and assist with maintenance of the vehicles as needed.
Successfully complete Medication Administration Course and administer medications (in certified settings) to individuals in accordance with the Medication Policy of Heritage Christian Services.
Complete cleaning tasks as deemed appropriate by the Day Habilitation Manager. These tasks may include; assisting with meal preparation, cleaning, assisting with laundry and shopping or other tasks necessary for maintaining a safe, clean environment.
Participate in scheduled training, including staff meetings, required by Heritage Christian Services. Actively participate in in-service sessions and other staff training sessions.
Communicate needs or general information regarding the individuals in the program to the manager, and clinician as appropriate to aid in the development or improvement of the Day Habilitation plan and educational procedures.
Understand site-specific fire and emergency procedures and to assist with fire drills as appropriate via the individual’s specific evacuation plans.
Assume additionally leadership responsibilities when requested by Day Habilitation Manager.
Work at a variety of day habilitation locations, as determined by the Associate Director of Day Services.
Qualifications

- Minimum of High School diploma or high school equivalency; college experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license that meets Heritage Christian motor vehicle standards.
- Physical ability to lift over 50 pounds and provide assistance to people who require assistance with transfers.
- Experience with persons who have intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
