What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Advancement position at Heritage Christian School?
Heritage Christian School is seeking a full-time Director of Advancement to lead our fundraising and donor development efforts. As an independent, Christ-centered school serving families across a five-county region, we are committed to educating the whole child through the lens of a biblical worldview. This is a new, mission-critical role for someone who loves building relationships and wants their work to strengthen Christian education in our community.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of Advancement is the school’s primary leader for fundraising, donor development, sponsorships, grants, and capital campaign initiatives. You will build and steward relationships with donors, businesses, churches, and community partners, and create a proactive, accountable advancement program that supports both today’s needs and our long-term vision.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop and execute the school’s annual fundraising strategy
- Personally cultivate donors and solicit gifts, sponsorships, and major gifts
- Grow and manage the Corporate Sponsorship Program
- Pursue grants and build long-term community and business partnerships
- Support capital campaign planning and execution
- Track results and report fundraising progress to leadership and the Board
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- Demonstrated experience building relationships and personally asking for a commitment — fundraising, development, sales, or nonprofit advancement
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and follow-through
- Comfort working independently with self-set goals and regular accountability
- A personal Christian faith, active involvement in a local church, and agreement with the school’s statement of faith
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for donor and community meetings
Preferred
- Prior experience in nonprofit or school fundraising, grant writing, or corporate sponsorship
- Familiarity with donor management software
- Existing relationships in the north-central West Virginia business or church community
Pay: From $35,568.00 per year
