CHOIR ACCOMPANIST
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this position is to provide rehearsal assistance that will enable the choir director to focus on academic and discipleship objectives. Responsibilities will include working closely with the Choir Director to provide piano accompaniment for select choral classes during the school day and evening performances throughout the year.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The employee must be a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. The employee is committed to incorporating these qualities and standards in carrying out the calling to Christian education. In addition, the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships, representing Christ and HCS professionally and positively with the HCS community-at-large, including faculty and staff, Board members, parents, volunteers and others is crucial to the success of this role.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Advanced piano skills and experience accompanying choirs is required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to play multiple parts during rehearsal.

Accompany choir from easy to advanced level choral music.

Sight-read music as needed

Lead sectional rehearsals

Assist in classroom activities

Exceptional communication, organization and time management skills

Strong work ethic including attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide piano accompaniment for select choral classes during the school day

Assist the choir director by playing the piano during rehearsal, including playing for choral warm-ups, individual parts and all accompaniment parts

Be present at after school dress rehearsals and evening performances as scheduled throughout the academic year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. Must be able to traverse campus and sports fields and facilities. Must be able to use a computer and other audio-visual equipment. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Must be able to communicate with others. Specific vision abilities required in this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to hear low-volume sounds. Must be able to assist children for health and safety reasons
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoors, outdoors, changes in temperature/humidity; potential for excessive noise, Exposure to the elements is to be expected while assisting with outdoor field and court preparation and oversight of Athletic events and management responsibilities. The role involves both office work and on-site presence at athletic events, training sessions, and program activities.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position follows the academic calendar. Monday-Friday, 10 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary depending upon concert rehearsal needs.
