What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Lender position at HERITAGE BANK INC?
·Develop and maintain a portfolio of high-quality commercial loans through prospecting, networking, and relationship management.
·Analyze creditworthiness of borrowers using financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents.
·Structure, underwrite, and present commercial loan proposals that meet both the client's needs and the institution’s risk management standards.
·Conduct site visits, client interviews, and financial reviews as part of the due diligence process.
·Monitor existing loan portfolio for credit risk, covenant compliance, and performance issues; take proactive steps to mitigate risk.
·Work closely with credit analysts, loan processors, underwriters, and legal/compliance teams to ensure timely loan closings.
·Maintain knowledge of local market trends, economic conditions, and competitor products to inform lending strategies.
·Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations, including lending limits, documentation requirements, and reporting standards.
·Participate in community and business development activities to promote the institution’s presence and attract new commercial clients.
·Conducts daily operation in accordance with the laws, regulation, policies, procedure, and expectations of the Bank. Compliance will be recognized as part of the period performance review; noncompliance may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
·Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field required.
·3–5+ years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or business banking within a financial institution.
·Strong understanding of credit structuring, commercial loan products, financial statement analysis, and risk assessment.
·Knowledge of commercial loan regulations and compliance requirements, including SBA lending (preferred but not required).
·Demonstrated ability to build relationships and grow a loan portfolio.
·Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
·Proficient in Microsoft Office and loan origination/credit analysis software.
