Company Description:
The Director of Advancement is a key member of the Leadership Team and will play a foundational role in building and leading the school’s fundraising and development efforts. Reporting directly to the Head of School, this position is responsible for establishing and executing a comprehensive development strategy that cultivates generosity, deepens donor relationships, and secures the philanthropic support necessary to sustain and grow the school’s mission.
At the heart of this role is storytelling—clearly and compellingly articulating the school’s mission, vision, and impact to current and prospective donors, families, alumni, and the broader community. In close partnership with the Head of School, the Director of Advancement will oversee the school’s fundraising strategy, including leadership of the annual fund, donor cultivation and stewardship, major gift development, and the creation of systems that support a growing culture of philanthropy. This role will also contribute to the life of the school through select student programming oversight and support.
Qualifications & Responsibilities:
Experience, Professional Background & Education:
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, development, or advancement, with a track record of cultivating donors and securing philanthropic support.
- Experience in independent schools, education, nonprofit organizations, or mission-driven institutions is preferred.
- Experience with donor databases or CRM systems and development operations.
- Bachelors Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred
Communication & Storytelling:
- Experience developing and communicating a compelling case for support.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Leadership & Relationship-Building:
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively with a leadership team, faculty, families, and volunteers.
