What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gifted and Talented Teacher position at Heritage Academy Maricopa Elementary?
Position Summary
Heritage provides parents and scholars with a friendly and orderly academic environment. As an integral part of Heritage Academy, this position will assist the Special Education Teacher in helping all scholars in a friendly and professional manner while adhering to all practices consistent with Heritage culture, strategy, and values.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work with the classroom teachers where assigned, understanding that support duties may occur in other classrooms.
Provide required support to students in general education and special education settings. This may include behavioral, academic, or physical assistance.
Attend Open Houses, special school events, and certain staff meetings designated as All Faculty Meetings.
Assist in the documentation of students’ progress on goals in their academic and behavioral plans.
Assist the teacher(s) in providing behavior support for students on specific behavior goals and plans and providing redirection, de-escalation strategies, and providing positive feedback to the students.
Identify the needs of assigned students through formal and informal assessments.
Ensure adherence to reasonable rules of classroom discipline to maintain a secure and effective learning environment.
Manage student behavior through monitoring, supervising, and assessing behavioral patterns.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Education: High School degree or equivalent required
Experience: 2-3 years of experience in an academic setting is preferred
Type of fingerprint clearance: Shall be fingerprint checked pursuant to A.R.S 15-512
Special Skills:
Excellent communication skills
Professional and friendly disposition
Proficient with computers and office software applications including MS Office tools, internet search engines
Outstanding organizational skills
Physical functions: Must be able to remain in a stationary (standing or sitting) position for 50% of the time; may occasionally move around the campus 50% of the time.
Equipment used: Occasional computer, telephone, and office equipment use is expected.
Work Environment: May be required to move or position equipment up to 30 pounds. May be exposed to outdoor weather.
