As we continue to grow, we're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our finishing department and work alongside our lead Cerakote technician.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Cerakote & Paint Shop Assistant to help support our growing finishing operations. This is a hands-on position that involves preparing parts, assisting with Cerakote applications, stenciling, and helping create the unique finishes that Heretic Knives is known for.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with their hands, has a good eye for detail, takes pride in their work, and is willing to learn new techniques.
While previous painting or Cerakote experience is a plus, we're willing to train the right person who brings a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Rack and unrack knife components for coating and finishing processes.
- Prepare parts for painting, including cleaning, masking, surface preparation, and organizing components.
- Assist with basic Cerakote and paint applications under the direction of our lead technician.
- Apply and remove stencils, masks, and patterns for custom finishes.
- Assist with freehand painting, detailing, and specialty finishes.
- Inspect finished components for quality, consistency, and overall appearance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient paint and finishing area.
- Follow proper safety procedures when working with coatings, chemicals, and equipment.
- Assist other production departments when needed to help maintain workflow and meet production goals.
- Take on additional responsibilities as skills and experience develop.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform detailed work.
- Willingness to learn Cerakote applications, painting techniques, and finishing processes.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with a team.
- Comfortable working with small components and repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to assist in other areas of production as needed.
Preferred but Not Required:
- Previous Cerakote, automotive painting, airbrushing, or industrial coating experience.
- Experience with stenciling, masking, or custom paintwork.
- Artistic ability or experience with freehand painting.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
