Certified Peer Recovery Supporter — Recovery Housing

Job Description

Do you believe your recovery journey can help someone else take the next right step?

Here For You Enterprise Inc. is looking for a dependable, compassionate, and recovery-

focused Certified Peer Recovery Supporter to support residents in a recovery housing

setting.

This is not just a “check-in” position. The right person for this role understands that peer

support is about encouragement, accountability, safety, structure, trust, and showing

others that recovery is possible.

As a Certified Peer Recovery Supporter, you will use your lived experience in a

professional and appropriate way to support individuals working toward stability,

recovery, and long-term wellness.

If you are someone who can listen without judgment, notice when something feels off,

Stay calm when people are struggling, and model recovery through your own actions,

This may be the right opportunity for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide peer support to residents working toward their recovery goals.
  • Model recovery principles, healthy boundaries, accountability, and prosocial behavior.
  • Complete daily check-ins with residents and document progress toward recovery plans.
  • Help new residents understand the home, expectations, policies, and procedures.
  • Facilitate weekly house meetings and recovery-focused meetings.
  • Support residents in attending required meetings and staying engaged in recovery activities.
  • Monitor for warning signs related to relapse, behavioral health symptoms, crisis concerns, or increased support needs.
  • Communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor or clinical team member.
  • Help residents follow the code of conduct and respond appropriately when concerns arise.
  • Assist with resident grievances, incident documentation, and follow-up.
  • Respond professionally to residents’ concerns, neighbor concerns, and house-related issues.
  • Help maintain a safe, respectful, substance-free recovery housing environment.
  • Check the recovery home for basic safety concerns, including blocked exits, overloaded outlets, safety equipment issues, alcohol, illicit substances, or prohibited items.
  • Document your work clearly, accurately, and on time.

You May Be a Great Fit If

  • You are passionate about helping others build a life in recovery.
  • You understand the importance of structure, accountability, and consistency.
  • You can support residents without trying to rescue, control, or judge them.
  • You are comfortable having respectful but direct conversations.
  • You notice changes in mood, behavior, engagement, or routine that may signal a concern.
  • You can stay calm when someone is upset, frustrated, or struggling.
  • You understand that confidentiality and boundaries are part of professional peer support.
  • You are dependable and take attendance, documentation, and follow-through seriously.
  • You can work as part of a behavioral health team and communicate concerns clearly.
  • You believe lived experience is powerful but also understand that peer support is a professional role.

This position is not for someone who only wants to sit in an office or simply monitor a

house. Successful peer supporters build trust, notice concerns early, document clearly,

and help residents stay connected to recovery.

What We’re Looking For

  • Current Ohio Certified Peer Recovery Supporter credential or qualifying peersupport certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to complete accurate documentation.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Ability to work in person in Akron, Ohio.
  • Dependable attendance and follow-through.
  • Peer support experience is preferred, but newly certified peer supporters with the right attitude, maturity, and commitment are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Experience

  • Peer support experience in recovery housing, behavioral health, substance use treatment, or community mental health setting.
  • Experience with crisis response, de-escalation, relapse warning signs, or incidentdocumentation.
