Position Summary
The Quality Technician supports Hercules OEM’s commitment to delivering compliant, high‑quality products by performing inspection, verification, and quality support activities for incoming material and customer requirements. This role plays a critical part in protecting the customer, maintaining system compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures, in addition to staying up to date with requirements to maintain exemplary standards of health and safety across all work areas.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI) on new parts and revisions, including generation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and customer‑specific quality documentation (e.g., AS9102 where required).
- Conduct incoming receiving inspections, including dimensional, visual, and limited material verification, in accordance with inspection plans, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
- Utilize CMM equipment and other precision measurement tools to support FAIs and complex inspections.
- Execute sorting, segregation, and containment activities for stock and customer‑related quality concerns as directed.
- Support investigation of nonconforming material, including documentation, tagging, and data collection for root cause analysis.
- Accurately process inspection results, inventory movements, releases, and quality transactions within the Hercules OEM ERP and quality systems.
- Maintain inspection equipment, support calibration activities, and ensure gages remain in a controlled and compliant state.
- Ensure quality records are accurately maintained, traceable, and audit‑ready within the company’s document control system.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and compliant QC lab and hold areas, supporting visual management and workplace discipline.
- Follow and support ISO 9001 / AS9120 quality system requirements, procedures, and policies.
- Participate in training, cross‑functional quality initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of quality and customer requirements.
Education, Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree (A.A.) from a technical school or college or equivalent combination of education and relevant quality/inspection experience.
- Experience performing dimensional and visual inspections using standard metrology tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and inspection documentation.
Preferred
- Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience using CMM equipment and inspection software.
- Familiarity with FAI / FAIR documentation and aerospace or automotive customer requirements.
- Prior experience working within an ISO‑certified quality system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to interpret procedures, work instructions, and technical documents.
- Ability to write clear inspection records, reports, and internal communications.
- Strong math skills, including use of decimals, fractions, ratios, and percentages.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and ability to follow defined processes.
- Ability to apply common‑sense judgment and escalate concerns appropriately.

Compensation: $22/hour - $29/hour, open to negotiation based on experience
This role is onsite 5 days a week at our Winston-Salem, NC site.
