Construction Health & Safety Manager

Hercules Fence is a premier fence and perimeter security company with six locations in the VA/DC/MD region. We excel in commercial and high-security work at some of the most prestigious locations in the United States. We are seeking a qualified Safety Manager to serve as a full-time field safety representative for Hercules Fence projects. This position reports to the Safety Director.

The key function of the Safety Manager is to support project needs and ensure best practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met, and an improved safety culture and performance are achieved.

Essential Job Duties

• Oversee all aspects of commercial construction projects, ensuring OSHA compliance
• Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks
• Complete accident reports and conduct incident investigations
• Ensure all personnel wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Perform daily safety audits and inspections
• Oversee subcontractors and contractors for safety compliance
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
• Inspect power tools and construction equipment
• Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Health & Safety Plans (HASPs)
• Support safety incentive and safety recognition programs

Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required
• First Aid/CPR certified (or ability to obtain)
• Must have one of the following certifications: CHST, GSP, ASP, or CSP
• Strong knowledge of construction safety standards
• Experience assisting in the development of Site-Specific Safety Plans
• Experience interpreting and implementing a Corporate Health & Safety Plan
• Experience with Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, and Excavation safety
• Ability to pass a federal background check

Preferred Education/Experience

• Degree in Safety & Health or related field preferred
• Construction industry experience
• Contractor safety oversight experience
• Construction safety experience preferred
• OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 a plus
• EM 385-1-1 knowledge helpful
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• Ability to travel between job sites and facilities to conduct inspections
