Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Chemical Operator to join our team. you will be responsible for producing and packaging products according to instructions provided to meet customer specifications.
Pay is $24/hour to start.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Measure, weigh, and mix chemical ingredients per standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Operate and control equipment associated with chemical purifications or reactions taking place during the production process and adjust controls to regulate temperature, pressure, or flow of liquids or gasses at time of prescribed reaction.
- Make necessary adjustments on equipment affecting speed of chemical reactions, quality, or yields.
- Read and follow batch procedures, work instructions, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Record operational data and test results, draw product samples for analysis.
- Utilize computer systems like SAP for transactions and retrieving analytical results.
- Identify and escalate issues to supervisors as needed.
- Follow safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, to prevent overflow and other hazards such as fires, explosions, and/or spills.
- Inspect equipment for leaks or malfunctions, shutting down as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, adhering to 5S principles to avoid contamination.
- Packaging responsibilities such as recording operational data such as weights, ingredients used, processing times, test results, and drawing of product samples for analytical department.
Must Have Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Reading and math with the ability to conduct measurements and conversions of measurements as well as calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and ratios.
- Must be a self-starter with high attention to detail.
- Teamwork and organizational skills .
- Ability to multi-task.
Preferred Skills
- One year of experience in a chemical manufacturing or blending, mixing manufacturing environment.
- Basic chemistry knowledge.
- Knowledge of equipment such as pumps, ovens, stirrers, dryers, and tools including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
Physical Requirements
While performing this position, one is regularly performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms, hands, legs, and moving of whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Must be able to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Must be medically cleared to wear a respirator and pass the associated FIT test.
