Summary
The primary responsibilities of a Powder Preparation Operator are to prepare, process and distribute raw materials/powders for the purposes of producing ceramic semi-finished products. The Powder Preparation operator also ensures the area production schedule is executed to time, quality, and productivity requirements. This position follows a 3x12 shift schedule, working Friday to Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and eligible to be paid for 40-hours.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for set-up and operating equipment/tools to create / modify raw materials to produce powders used in current products.
- Set up machinery such as kilns, Rotovaps equipment, drum rollers and oversee its functioning. Follow documented instructions, as well as calibrate equipment to follow product specifications. Follow strict company and industry safety regulations, as well as a tightly controlled sequence of functions and equipment programming functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other operators and supervisors, as well as attend regular training sessions for updates on equipment use. Conduct day to day activities and provide training to team members on relevant industry processes and equipment operations safety.
- Must be self-sufficient and work well with minimal supervision and must be able to detect and correct program errors in a timely fashion.
- Properly and safely load and unload raw materials into machinery, as well as change out tools as required. Must have experience calibrating calipers and micrometers. Ability to use other small tools.
- Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on area machinery.
- Follow directions, SOPs, and documented protocols.
- Must be able to report progress to the production supervisor in their department.
Requirements for the role
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- 2 plus years manufacturing experience; previous experience with chemicals or powders a plus
- Experience working in a clean room/controlled environment highly preferred
- Computer Literate and Knowledgeable about tools and tooling
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds without strain and needs to have a Quality First attitude and a strong team spirit to help keep equipment running within process specifications.
- Must stand for several hours at a time while performing their main job functions.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of a Powder Preparation Operator, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
