Job Overview
A small dynamic law firm on the beautiful west coast of Florida is looking for a Family Law Attorney to join their team. This attorney must have aspirations to one day be partner growing our firm to continue being top 10 in the area. The attorney will play a crucial role in advocating for clients through some of their most challenging times. You will provide expert legal counsel on family law matters, including divorce, alimony, child custody, timesharing, parenting plans, child support, paternity, relocation actions, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements along with modification of previous judgements. Your passion for helping families navigate complex legal issues will be the driving force behind your success in this role.
What you’ll do
- Represent clients in all family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and support matters.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies.
- Draft and review legal documents, ensuring clarity and compliance with relevant laws.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Maintain detailed records of case progress and client communications within the law office using Clio.
- Collaborate with other attorneys on complex cases.
- Stay updated on changes in family law rules and procedures, regulations and practices to provide informed advice to clients.
- Engage in litigation when necessary, representing clients in court proceedings.
Basic qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in family law. Other fields such as probate and/or estate planning a plus.
- Personable with strong negotiation skills. A proven track record of successful settlements.
- Well-versed in recent case law updates and with the Family Law rules of procedure and Florida rules of court procedure.
- Excellent writing skills for effective legal drafting and communication.
