Pay Range: NURSE PRACTITIONER, RN (PT/PD) - $63.15 to $101.63
Job Summary:
The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner will have primary responsibility of supervising exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, as well as helping to coordinate the management of cardiac observation patients, working in collaboration with cardiologists and hospitalists. The NP may also assist physicians with the care of cardiac interventional and/or cardiac surgery patients, with the goal of providing efficient, high-quality patient care-coordination.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current California RN license
- Nurse Practitioner Certification by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
- Possession of a furnishing number from the BRN
- Possession of a DEA number for Scheduled II-V drugs
- Current BLS and ACLS provider cards
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally recognized certifying organization
Education:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) required
Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner; Cardiovascular experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Clinical knowledge of diagnosis, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and management of hospitalized patients
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Demands – Patient Care:
- Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
- Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
- Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
- Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
- Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
