Job Summary:

Responsible for the 24 hour, day-to- day operations and management of central services and materials management operations; and other assigned areas Responsible for monitoring supply costs; inventory and cost benefit analysis; evaluating alternatives and making suggestions with regards to inventory operations. Supports Value Analysis Committees. Collaborates with Director, Materials Management to assure appropriate vetting and identification of expense reduction opportunities and discuss tactics to avoid cost increases. Support contract compliance of hospital product standardization related to perpetual inventories and PAR supplies managed by Central Supply.

Licensure and Certification:

• Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) is preferred

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred (with degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or Accounting); OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

Experience:

• Five (5) years of Managerial experience along with a Bachelor’s Degree (Healthcare Supply Chain experience is a plus); OR
• Ten (10) years of Managerial experience without a degree

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of leadership and management theories, principles, practices, techniques and methods.
• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Skilled use of MS Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Knowledge of fundamental use of an MMIS (Materials Management Information System)
• Must have knowledge of inventory management practices, to include a thorough understanding of inventory flows
• Must have knowledge of periodic automated replenishment (PAR) system and Kanban systems
• Ability to foster teamwork, work with employees with various educational levels knowing their limitations, strengths and weaknesses
• Ability to listen effectively, considers all points of view and effectively solves problems
• Skilled at maintaining personal accountability for projects and deliverables

Physical Demands - Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:

• Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
• Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
• Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
• Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
• Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
