Job Summary:

Responsible for patient care services utilizing ultrasound equipment to provide echocardiography exams in compliance with regulatory requirements for directed image acquisition; also responsible for data generation for physician interpretation of exams, teaching and coaching ultrasound students, patient transport and schedule coordination.

Licensure and Certification:

• ARDMS or CCI credential in one modality
• Current BLS provider card

Education:

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• Experience with echocardiogram exams or completion of echocardiology training course (didactic/clinical training)

Experience:

• Experienced in adult transthoracic echocardiograms to include contrast studies
• Experienced in TEE and Stress Echo exams

Knowledge and Skills:

• Patient care in a hospital setting.
• Ability to follow the various protocols necessary for performing echocardiograms
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Ability to work flexible schedules and take call as needed
• Strong organizational skills
• Problem solving skills
• Basic computer skills

Physical Demands - Patient Care:

• Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
• Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
• Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
• Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
• Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
• Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
• Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
