What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiology Technology Assistant / Contingent position at Henry Ford Health System?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of clerical, technical, and patient related duties according to established protocols. The Radiology Technologist Assistant is responsible for assisting members of the Radiology team and providing a broad range of health care services such as: patient check-in, exam review, preparation for the visit, patient education, assistance with exams/procedures and patient transporting. May be assigned to work in a variety of imaging sections, assist multiple radiology modalities and /or clinical services per operational needs. Performs related duties as required.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist patients and staff in Radiology Imaging Departments.
* Explain examination procedures to patients, help prepare them for the exam and review any screening forms associated with the exam.
* Assist Radiology/Imaging Team with Electronic Health Record data entry.
* Prepare procedure room and work areas to ensure stock is replenished (linen and related supplies) and the area is kept neat and clean.
* Perform clerical duties to include answering telephones, patient scheduling, RIS functions.
* Transport and escort patients to and from Radiology, both in hospital and ambulatory settings Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* High School graduate or equivalent required.
* Basic computer knowledge required.
* Medical knowledge and terminology preferred.
* One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
* Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification required upon hire or during orientation to department.
