Clinical Exercise Physiologist – Cardiac Rehabilitation

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our Cardiac Rehabilitation team. This is a meaningful opportunity to support patients as they regain strength, confidence, and long term health through safe, supervised exercise and lifestyle coaching.
About the Role
In this role, you will evaluate patient readiness for exercise, lead clinic based exercise sessions, and administer exercise stress tests. You will review medical histories, monitor vital signs, interpret ECGs, and provide ongoing surveillance to ensure patient safety. As part of a collaborative care team, you will communicate with physicians, tailor exercise prescriptions, and guide patients in adopting sustainable lifestyle habits.
You will support a variety of clinical programs, including Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Artery Disease, and physical activity counseling within weight management and bariatric services. Care may be delivered in person or through telehealth.
Key Responsibilities
Guide patients through supervised exercise and individualized treatment plans
Conduct exercise stress tests and monitor ECGs, symptoms, and vital signs
Assess contraindications to exercise, obtain consent, and ensure patient safety
Provide education on exercise, lifestyle change, and disease management
Communicate progress and concerns to physicians and advanced practice providers
Offer physical activity counseling and support patient behavior change
Deliver compassionate care to diverse patient populations, including older adults and those with complex chronic conditions

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's or graduate degree in exercise science/physiology or related field.
Experience in a clinical exercise setting highly preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the healthcare provider.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of hire.
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) certification is strongly preferred.
