Job Summary:
Working in a highly visible high school environment, the Marketing and Public Relations Specialist (MPRS)
implements marketing, branding, and communications initiatives that promote the mission, programs, and
achievements of Henry Ford Academy. This role interacts with students, families, staff, and external
stakeholders to strengthen community trust, support student enrollment and engagement, and ensure clear,
consistent communication with the school community.

The MPRS regularly attends school events such as open houses, athletic events, performances, and community
meetings to capture content, promote engagement, and support the school’s public image.

This role operates in a highly visible and relationship-driven environment, requiring strong communication
skills and responsiveness. The role also includes a digital component, with significant time spent managing
social media platforms, website content, marketing campaigns, and media relations. Flexibility is essential, as
occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support school functions and community outreach.

Overall, the MPRS role is HFA mission-driven and student-centered, with a strong emphasis on storytelling,
brand management, and fostering positive relationships between the school and its broader community.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Marketing & Brand Management
➢ Assists with implementing promotional and communication strategies that support school goals and

initiatives.
➢ Helps maintain consistent branding and messaging across school communication platforms.
➢ Creates and shares content highlighting academic programs, student activities, staff accomplishments,

and school events.
➢ Supports enrollment and community engagement efforts through marketing materials, social media

content, and outreach to families and alumni.
Public Relations & Community Engagement
➢ Assists with school communications and helps coordinate responses to routine public and media

inquiries.
➢ Builds positive relationships with families, community partners, and local organizations through

ongoing communication and outreach efforts.
➢ Supports school leadership with communication materials and event coordination for community

meetings, school programs, and public events.
Digital Communications & Content Management
➢ Assists with updating website content, social media accounts, email communications, and other digital

platforms.
➢ Creates and shares engaging content that highlights school culture, student experiences, and school

activities.
➢ Tracks basic engagement metrics and social media analytics to help improve communication efforts.
➢ Follows school policies and guidelines related to accessibility, privacy, and student information.

➢ Helps ensure consistent messaging and branding across school communication channels.
➢ The manager must be comfortable working in both structured settings (meetings, planning sessions)

and more fluid environments (live events, crisis communication situations).

The position requires both independent work and cross-functional collaboration, often managing multiple
projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Qualifications:
➢ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field

preferred
➢ 1–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, customer engagement, or a related area

preferred; experience in an educational or nonprofit setting is a plus
➢ Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear and engaging content for

different audiences
➢ Familiarity with social media platforms, basic branding practices, and digital communication tools
➢ Experience using content management systems, Canva or similar design tools, and standard office

software
➢ Basic understanding of social media engagement and communication metrics
➢ Ability to communicate educational information in a clear, organized, and accessible manner
➢ Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills
➢ Adaptable, dependable, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a team-oriented

environment.

Work Environment, Conditions and Benefits:
The Marketing and Public Relations Specialist will work in a collaborative and fast-paced high school
environment, engaging with both students and staff across both the Museum and Village campuses. The role
will involve frequent interaction with teachers, students, staff, and the community. This position requires a
strong commitment to fostering a positive, student-centered school culture, and a collegial, collaborative
professional environment. The role also involves interfacing with community members and organizations
external to the Academy, as well as working closely with various student populations. The duty period is
8:00am to 4:00pm during typical school days. The MPRS may also be present from 4:00-5:00pm on scheduled
school meetings days.

Schedule and Compensation
Salary for the Marketing and Public Relations Specialist is $50,000-$65,000/year and based on
experience and credentials, and considering the available school budget.
➢ Schedule: Full-time - Regular School Day 8:00am-4:00pm
➢ Benefits: Depending on full/part time status and hours worked
