What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Sterile Tech position at Henry County Medical Center?
The CS technician is responsible for decontamination, assembly, packaging, wrapping and sterilization of linen, treatment trays, instruments and related reprocessed items in Surgery, CCU, Med. Surg. Units, ER, Lab, x-ray, and physicians offices.
Knowledge of policy and procedure of decontamination and sterilization, biological testing of sterilization equipment, and implant able items. Complete knowledge of parameters for steam sterilizers, flash packs, and biological testing. Records and maintains accurate records on sterilized items required by Joint Commission, Regulatory Agencies, Infection Control, and QA.
Knowledge of instruments and all working parts to insure proper cleaning and sterilization. Ability to anticipate physicians needs in an emergency. Ability to prioritize needs for upcoming surgical cases. Order supplies, needed for decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation, always following policies and procedures.
This position does require taking overnight, weekend and holiday call on a rotating basis.

Certified as a Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician or prior on the job training. Preference to candidate with current certification.
