PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO ADMINISTRATIVE AREA:
1. Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices
2. Helps identify within the school all types of exceptional children and recommends corrective procedures.
3. Consults on special educational needs of students with social, emotional, and cognitive disabilities.
4. Attends ARC meetings on placement of individual students and conveys essential information in an open manner.
5. Serves as a consultant on mental health topics for instructors.
6. Interprets the school psychological services to teachers and parents.
7. Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings and keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
8. Assists with professional development training of school personnel.
9. Participates/consults with personnel in the pre-referral process and RTI systems.
10. Provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation for referrals for exceptional children services for students in the 3 through 21 year old age range.
11. Participates in SBARC meetings to interpret evaluation data and generates appropriate
recommendations.
12. Supervises School Psychology interns as needed.
13. Solicits information about students from school sources and available community resources; interviews students and teachers effectively and engages in counseling procedures where desired or necessary.
14. Consults with teachers, administrators, and parents using effective communication skills in
developing, implementing, and evaluating interventions designed to promote academic/social skills.
15. Selects, administers, scores, interprets, and describes findings from an appropriate battery of tests which may include individual tests of cognitive ability, educational achievement, perceptual-motor, language, social, and emotional development.
16. Reports findings in verbal and written form and generates recommendations in a timely, clear, and effective manner.
17. Maintains accurate and thorough records.
18. Acts and reacts in a positive, constructive, and mutually respectful manner when dealing with others.
19. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Special Education Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent and the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
