Overview
Seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to oversee the colonoscopy process in our general surgery practice. This is an office based role.
Responsibilities
- Maintain colonoscopy referral pool
- Review patient medical histories and medication lists to identify risk factors
- Conduct pre-procedure patient assessments and interviews
- Provide detailed instructions regarding bowel preparation, medication management, and procedure expectations
- Coordinate scheduling of procedures with surgical team and facility staff
- Ensure all required diagnostic tests and clearances are completed and documented
- Complete pre-certification with insurance companies
- Follow up with patients regarding pathology results and additional care requirements
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and referrals as needed
- Maintain an organized log for patients needing repeat colonoscopies
- Work cooperatively with all team members to ensure efficient office operations
Qualifications
- Requires completion of a Medical Assistant training program or a certification in Medical Assisting
- Knowledge of colonoscopy procedures and related care protocols
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Electronic medical record proficiency
- BLS Certification
