Job Description
Enfield Public Schools is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Kindergarten Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will support young learners’ academic, social, and emotional development and provide a joyful, developmentally appropriate introduction to school. This position emphasizes building foundational skills and fostering a lifelong love of learning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and early childhood best practices
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports students’ social, emotional, physical, and academic growth
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including play-based and hands-on learning
- Support early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skill development
- Foster curiosity, communication, creativity, and collaboration
- Assess and monitor student progress using formative assessment practices
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, families, and the school community
- Participate in professional learning to remain current with early childhood standards and instructional practices
Qualifications
- Valid CTDOE certification in Elementary, PK–6 (305)
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and kindergarten instructional practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create a positive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching kindergarten or early primary grades
- Experience integrating technology in developmentally appropriate ways
- Knowledge of best practices in early childhood instruction
