GENERAL MANAGER for Henrietta
Location: Echo Park
Position: General Manager
Reports to: Managing Partner/ Owner
Rate: $75,000-$85,000/ yr bonus

We are looking to fill the position of General Manager at Henrietta, an intimate California Bistro
and Deli in Echo Park.

Henrietta is 30 seat California take on the deli and market by day, bistro by night restaurants of
Rome and Europe. We are small, seasonal corner restaurant with a focus on serving our neighborhood and beyond from morning to night.

We've a had a wonderful first few months of being open and are looking to bring on a leader
who shares our values of quality and care above all else. We are looking for an experienced,
dedicated General Manager to help shepherd us into our next stage.

The ideal candidate is an organized, passionate person looking to help our small team grow. We’re looking for someone who loves service and cares deeply about the guest experience. We would love to find someone who shares our values and is looking to grow with our restaurant and company.

General Manager duties include, but are not limited to: Hiring, training, and managing all Front
of House staff; Implementing service standards and building a team around our guiding
principles; Fostering a community with the staff and our guests; Managing and growing the retail
market; Working alongside FOH staff during service to ensure the best experience for our guests.

The job will also entail administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll, inventory and keeping
internal systems and checklists up to date.

The essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Lead by example in all areas:
 Work alongside owner and management team to run day to day operations with a strong
understanding of and adherence to company background and philosophy. 
 Exercise punctuality in all daily operations, meetings, site visits and events. 
 Adhere to all company policies, procedures and practices including health & safety, and
loss prevention.
 Proper execution of all service standards and protocols
 Exceptional work ethic, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative attitude
 Collaborate with ownership and management on initiative to grow relationship with the
neighborhood and regulars.
Floor management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
 Frequent decision making and troubleshooting 
 Ensuring adequate staffing levels for each shift based on the expected volume of business

 Maintaining proper flow of service (at the door, on the floor, and at the pass) 
 Upholding service standards, product quality and cleanliness
 Clear communication with BOH management as well as floor staff to ensure proper flow
of service and guest satisfaction
 Guest interaction – ensuring service and food quality, cultivating relationships, resolving
issues
 Support FOH staff in service as needed to ensure guests are provided with proper levels
of service.
Team management and development Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 Oversee the FOH staff through all working hours - setting up for service, during service
hours, and closing each shift according to restaurant standards
 Assisting in executing new restaurant initiatives and service protocols through staff
training
 Continual development of FOH employees by upholding performance expectations,
providing ongoing feedback, and offering input for regular performance reviews
 Assist with employee discipline, termination and hiring efforts to maintain proper staffing
levels.
 Directing staff and enforcing service standards
 Ensuring FOH staff has appropriate food, beverage, and service knowledge 
Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
 Managing reservations and reservation system with particular attention to special notes
and ensuring maximization of covers
 Assisting with customer service responses and guest recovery efforts, including but not
limited to: online feedback, guest complaints, and immediate service recovery, taking any
and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests
 Process payroll steps in an accurate and timely manner
 Ensure staffing levels are appropriate for service needs while considering restaurant
budget and labor cost goals.
 Maintain proper inventory and stocking levels to avoid loss.
 Understand and enforce DOH protocols at all times 
 Understand and enforce responsible alcohol service 

 Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)  
 3 years restaurant management experience
 High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math
skills to read manuals, prepare costing, and prepare computer reports as required 
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 Technical proficiency in restaurant POS, reservation systems, Microsoft Office strongly
recommended
 Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills

 Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties and prepare
reports according to schedule. 
 Ability to work in an organized and professional manner
 Receptive to constructive criticism and performance feedback
 Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing
environment
 Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. 
 Ability to provide exceptional guest service. 
 Available to work nights, weekends, holidays and long days as necessary
 Exceptional service skills, food and beverage knowledge required
 Must be Serv Safe certified within 90 days of hire. 
 Compensation
 $75,000-$85,000 DOE

Physical Demands
  The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching,
frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing,
for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These
physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
