Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in/check-out procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily clinic flow
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries and routing calls appropriately
- Maintain precise medical records by filing documents, reviewing documentation for completeness, and updating patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Process payments and perform medical collection activities related to billing and coding using CPT, ICD-9/10 codes, ensuring accuracy in medical billing procedures
- Support medical administrative functions including data entry, document review, and assisting with care plans or follow-up instructions
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role with clinic or dental office experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, Medicare guidelines, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing speed (10 key typing)
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations
- Prior experience with insurance verification, medical billing, documentation review, and health information management is highly desirable
