Starting in the 2023-24 school year, Henrico County Public Schools will designate select schools with high rates of vacant positions and provisionally licensed staff as Opportunity Schools through the HCPS Career Ladder. This is a new pathway within the Career Ladder through which entire schools, selected by HCPS, receive compensation supplements, additional staffing resources and specialized professional learning.

The Middle School Center for Innovation Coordinator (CFI) is a highly qualified educator responsible for championing the implementation and the day-to-day responsibilities of the Innovation Center. This role involves providing instructional leadership, mentoring staff, managing student recruitment and retention efforts, and fostering partnerships with business and community leaders. The Innovation Coordinator will also oversee the recruitment and application process, maintain budgetary responsibilities, and ensure a conducive learning environment aligned with the school quality plan. This individual will play a crucial role in designing and implementing innovative teaching methodologies that promote critical thinking and creativity to enhance the overall learning experience for middle school students. (or, promote the six competencies of the Henrico Learner Profile)

Essential Duties
- Responsible for teaching a reduced teaching load.
- Facilitate the day-to-day implementation of the Center for Innovation Curriculum.
- Develop and implement a cutting-edge curriculum, integrating innovative teaching methods, Technology, and project-based learning to inspire creativity and critical thinking.
- Oversee the design and implementation of flexible and innovative learning environments. Ensure these spaces are adaptable, Technology-rich, and conducive to a variety of learning styles and activities.
- Champion the creation and use of experiential, deeper learning environments.
- Model pedagogical practices that support exploration, inquiry, and creativity.
- Coordinate with division leaders and teachers to design schedules that enhance the learning experience.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive onboarding plan for new staff members.
- Facilitate professional development sessions that provide resources and guidance to staff on incorporating innovative teaching strategies, project-based learning, and Technology resources into classrooms.
- Actively participate in and promote professional development opportunities to enhance teaching abilities and remain with professional skills, curriculum trends, and innovative instructional practices.
- Oversee the application selection process to ensure access to all eligible Henrico students.
- Assess and track student progress in innovative learning initiatives, adjusting strategies to meet individual and collective needs.
- Maintain a learning environment that is safe, orderly, and conducive to effective instruction.
- Communicate effectively and promote effective communication between students, parents, community members, school personnel, and all stakeholders.
- Foster a positive and collaborative learning community by working closely with colleagues, students, and parents to support the school's overall mission.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with external organizations, industry professionals, and community resources to enrich the educational experience.
- Manage resources, equipment inventory, and the annual budget for the center.
- Ensure compliance with county and school financial policies related to fund collection and receipting.
- Collaborate with school leadership to identify and implement resources that support learning in the center.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by school leadership, maintaining fiscal responsibility for Innovation Center funding and ensuring effective use of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid VDOE license with an endorsement in a middle school subject area
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and a valid teaching license in the above mentioned curriculum are required
- Experience in implementing innovative teaching methods and project-based learning.
- Strong knowledge of educational Technology and its effective integration into the curriculum.

- Minimum annual starting salary: $62,440 Bachelors, $65,437 Masters *. This position includes a minimum stipend of $1,879 and an additional $3,000 opportunity school stipend.
