Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and journal entries for general ledger accounts.
- Ensure accurate recording of earned, assumed, and ceded premiums.
- Prepare NAIC quarterly and annual filings in compliance with statutory requirements.
- Produce reinsurance settlement statements and calculate quarterly premium taxes across multiple states.
- Conduct variance and ratio analysis; present findings to senior leadership.
- Reconcile bank accounts and intercompany loans to ensure data integrity.
- Prepare balance sheets, P&L statements, and management reports to summarize financial performance.
- Audit financial transactions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SAP, and internal policies.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation where possible.
- Assist with regulatory filings and tax reporting at the federal, state, and local levels.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of accounting experience.
- At least 2 years in the insurance industry.
- Minimum 2 years of statutory accounting experience.
- Minimum 4 years of GAAP accounting experience.
- Certifications: LOMA or similar insurance designation is an asset.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Access, or Clearwater Analytics is a plus.
- Familiarity with commission reporting systems such as APL preferred.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
