JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Materials oversees strategic sourcing, supplier management, materials planning, procurement, and inventory control functions for the organization. This role is responsible for developing a high-performing supply chain, improving supplier performance, optimizing purchasing strategies, and ensuring materials availability to support production and new product development. This position is required to work onsite (hybrid mode) in Eufaula, Alabama.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and execute new product supply chain development and long-term sourcing strategies.

Drive supplier selection, qualification, development, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Develop commodity strategies and identify gaps within the supplier base.

Oversee planning of finished goods and purchasing of raw materials, supplies, and critical equipment.

Utilize ERP/MRP data to optimize material procurement aligned with business plans.
-
Manage inventory and purchasing decisions to balance cost, availability, quality, and working capital targets.

Monitor and report inventory control metrics, implementing corrective actions when needed.

Ensure strong daily cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Program/Project Management.

Manage MRO procurement, tooling, and equipment purchases.

Leverage deep market knowledge of suppliers, technologies, and commodities to deliver annual cost savings and operational efficiencies.

Partner with Engineering, R&D, and Product teams to analyze and execute cost-saving opportunities.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY & MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage staffing activities including hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, employee development, promotions, and corrective action (in partnership with HR).

Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets.

Establish and revise departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Provide strong leadership that fosters a healthy culture, accountability, and team development.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (required).
Experience:

Minimum 10 years of materials management experience within a manufacturing environment.

Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development/performance, purchasing, and inventory management.

Demonstrated success managing end-to-end supply chain functions in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
