Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Structural Engineer will: serve as a project manager, technical leader, or a task leader for transportation- or transit-related structural engineering projects of varying sizes and complexity, coordinating the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines; write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations; review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines; coordinate and assist affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents; lead transit-related site inspections to verify field conditions, identify defects, and support rehabilitation and repair planning; coordinate with subconsultants to keep projects on schedule and within budget and manage day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client; stablish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance; implement project quality plans; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.

Required Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering field, and 3 years of experience in structural engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering field, and 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Required experience must include experience in structural analysis and design for steel and concrete; RAM Elements; RAM Structures; MATHCAD; AutoCAD; Revit; Bluebeam; RISA Foundation; spColumn; and spMAT.
- Must hold Engineer-in-Training certification or must have passed Fundamentals of Engineering examination. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
