Position Summary:
The Field Planning Technician role is responsible for supporting pre-construction planning activities, including site surveys, data collection, and preparation of project designs for telecommunications and utility infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to gather site-specific data and measurements
- Document field conditions through notes, photos, and sketches
- Prepare and update project layouts and design packages
- Interpret construction drawings and utility plans
- Identify permitting, right-of-way, and environmental constraints
- Coordinate with engineering and field teams to ensure accurate planning
- Develop material lists and bill of materials
- Assist in route planning for underground and aerial installations
- Ensure compliance with company and client standards
- Support cost estimating and budgeting
- Maintain organized project documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required & Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of electrical or utility construction
- Ability to read and interpret maps and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Ability to travel to field sites
- Valid driver's license
- Preferred: GIS or AutoCAD experience
- Preferred: Telecommunications or utility planning experience
- Preferred: Knowledge of permitting and right-of-way
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1–3 years of related experience preferred
Hourly Range: $24.00 to $36.00 per hour
