POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller and CFO in managing the hospital's accounting and financial reporting functions. Primary responsibilities include general accounting, month-end close, fixed assets, budgeting, and supervision of Accounts Payable and Payroll.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- CPA certification or CPA candidate.
- MEDITECH Expanse experience.
- Supervisory experience in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and/or Payroll.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Coordinates general ledger accounting and the monthly and annual financial close processes.
- Prepares and reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reports.
- Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements, related board reports and analysis of operating expense variances.
- Supervises Accounts Payable and Payroll functions.
- Maintains fixed asset and depreciation records, including additions, disposals, and construction-in-progress.
- Assists the Controller and CFO with annual operating and capital budgets.
- Assists with annual financial audits and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Supports effective utilization of General Ledger applications in MEDITECH Expanse.
- Serves as the Controller's primary backup and assumes additional Finance leadership responsibilities as assigned.
