Job Title: Assistant Hatchery Manager

Reports to: Location Manager

Location: Blackstone, VA

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary: Assists Hatchery Manager in all aspects of hatchery operations and personnel to ensure efficient production.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains inventories of products needed for production of day-old chicks as directed by manager.
• Manages oversight of incubation processes for the hatchery including familiarizing and learning the operation of all single and multi-stage setters and hatchers, ventilation systems, and all other systems in the facility as directed by Hatchery Manager.
• Assist management in quality control, evaluations of 14-day breakouts, moisture loss of eggs set, and all parameters important in contributing to viability of day-old chicks produced.
• Develop a firm knowledge of poultry diseases and administration and inventory of vaccines for use in day old chicks.
• Assists in implementation of a world class C&D program and biosecurity protocols for the hatchery.
• Assist in on-call weekend checks of the facility as needed.
• Implement and assist in development of S.O.P.’s for the hatchery.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Experience managing poultry related operations preferred.
• Bilingual a plus.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods on hard surfaces.
• Ability to lift, stoop, kneel, walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead staff and work with management.
• Ability to work well in a group.
• Leadership qualities.
• Desire to excel in your position.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast paced, indoor, environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Blackstone, VA 23824: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Agriculture: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
