Gallery Monitor
Hendrix College is seeking a part-time Gallery Monitor to work in our Windgate Museum during the summer of 2026. Reporting to the Windgate Museum Education Curator, the Gallery Monitor acts as the face of the museum, greeting guests, answering questions, and giving out information. The Gallery Monitor also accompanies museum guests into the galleries, being an available resource for questions while also enforcing museum rules in a friendly manner.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet visitors to the museum
- Monitor the galleries and enforce gallery rules
- Give tours of museum exhibitions
- Answer phones
- Take attendance
- Guiding guests through artmaking activities during events
- Answer guest questions and inform guests of upcoming events
- Some minor travel may be required
- Some evenings and weekends may be required
- Other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
The ideal candidate will be friendly and outgoing, happy to interact with a diverse range of guests. The candidate must be willing and eager to learn about and talk about artworks and artists exhibited in the museum. Good communication skills are required.

Preferred:
Experience interacting with the public is preferred. Experience with artmaking or art history is preferred, but not required. Experience leading group activities, especially children’s group activities, is preferred but not required. The ability to lift 25 pounds is preferred but not required.
