JOB SUMMARY |
- A sleep technologist works under general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care, and direct patient education. A sleep technologist is able to perform the duties defined for a sleep technician and is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff. The sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology.
JOB REQUIREMENTS |
- Minimum Education
- Associates degree or Graduate accredited respiratory program or Completion of A STEP Program or Completion of a Certified Sleep Program
- Minimum Work Experience
- No prior experience required
- Required Licenses/Certifications
- RPSGT or RST, CRT/RRT or completion of STAR (Self Study for Sleep Technology), A-Step, and/or eligible to sit for RST boards
- CPR certified
- Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Sleep study preparation and set-up
- Sleep ptudy procedures
- Use of recording units
- Maintains professional appearance and decorum at all times
- Compose applicable policies and procedures
- Compose letters/memorandums
- Coordinates meetings and schedules
- Proofread documents
- Research information
- Schedule appointments
- Answers phones
- Conducts patient follow-ups
- Compile statistics
- Able to perform EEG recordings for on call and STAT EEG’s
