Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Baker to join our team as a food preparation specialist. In this role, you will bring your culinary expertise to craft beautiful baked goods with precision and assist with food packaging and presentation. Your enthusiasm for food production and customer service will help create an inviting atmosphere for our shoppers while ensuring high standards of food safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of baked goods, including cakes, pastries, and desserts, following established recipes and standards
- Assist in food handling, packaging, and presentation to ensure attractive display and freshness
- Support kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, organizing supplies, and following guidelines for department maintenance
- Uphold food safety protocols and proper hygiene practices throughout all stages of food production
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about products and offering samples when appropriate
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient food preparation during busy periods
Qualifications
- Proven experience in baking or pastry arts with a strong portfolio of work preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and sanitation procedures in a commercial kitchen setting
- Skilled in culinary techniques including knife skills, food preparation, and cooking methods
- Previous experience in food production within the food industry or restaurant environment is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Familiarity with catering or restaurant operations is a plus
Physical demands and work environment:
Must be able to work long shifts occasionally as needed (more than 8 hours)
Must be able to work standing up for entire shift
Work environment may be crowded, noisy and hot a majority of the time
Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. regularly
Repetitive hand movements required in the normal course of a shift
