What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician - Tuesday Through Saturday position at Henderson Veterinary Medical Center?
We are a busy, 2.5 veterinarian, small animal only practice seeking to add a veterinary technician to our team, with a Tuesday through Saturday work week. We are in the process of building a new clinic, and are currently accepting new clients - in short, we are growing! This is an excellent opportunity for a technician interested in career growth; you'll have the freedom to develop your niche in our practice. We are a small, collaborative, open-minded team seeking someone who is both willing to share their own knowledge and experience, as well as learn from the rest of our team. As a veterinary technician, your duties will include the following:
- Solo technician appointments/consultations (in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Kentucky Veterinary Practice Act)
- Assisting doctors during appointments, procedures, and diagnostics as needed
- Patient restraint
- Running diagnostics including bloodwork, urinalyses, fecal testing, cytology, radiographs, ultrasound. (We have IDEXX in-house analyzers)
- Dental evaluations and procedures
- Regular maintenance of lab equipment
- Phlebotomy
- Management of hospitalized patients & treatment plans
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of hospital & patients
- Various record keeping duties
- Surgery prep and assistance, including suturing
- Extensive client communication and education
