Duties
- Provide real-time interpretation for medical consultations, examinations, and procedures across multiple languages.
- Accurately translate medical terminology, patient histories, and treatment instructions while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Review and interpret medical records, documentation, and social work reports to support clinical decision-making
- Support documentation review and ensure all interpreted interactions are properly documented in patient records
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify complex medical information and ensure understanding for patients with limited English proficiency or hearing impairments
- Maintain professional standards of interpretation ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times
Experience
- Multilingual proficiency with demonstrated interpretation skills in English - Spanish language.
- Prior experience working in healthcare settings such as hospitals or clinics is strongly desired
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements
- Experience translating or interpreting medical records, social work documentation or related materials
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically
- Proven ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
