What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Consultant - Accounting Advisory position at Henderson Drake?
Job Title: Senior Consultant - Accounting Advisory
Location: Orlando, Florida, US
Henderson Drake is partnering with a leading advisory firm to appoint a Senior Consultant who combines strong technical accounting foundations with the drive to work on transactions where the stakes are high and the answers aren't straightforward.
The work spans pre-IPO businesses, publicly listed companies, and private equity-backed organisations. Each engagement brings its own complexity, its own timeline pressures, and its own set of accounting challenges that rarely follow a predictable pattern. M&A, carve-outs, IPO readiness, and nuanced technical accounting questions are what this team is built around, not the exception to it.
Founded by former Big Four professionals, the firm has been deliberately kept lean and technically led. For someone at the point in their career where they want real ownership over engagements and direct exposure to senior decision-makers, rather than another layer of management between them and the work, this is a conversation worth having.
What you will be doing
- Lead advisory engagements spanning M&A, divestitures, carve-outs, and IPO readiness
- Review financial statements and SEC filings, identifying issues before they escalate
- Build financial models, forecasts, and supporting analyses that inform decisions at the highest level
- Work alongside client finance functions on business process improvement initiatives
- Act as the point of connection between client management and their auditors
- Support and develop junior team members across active engagements
- Build a technical specialism in areas such as business combinations, revenue recognition, or stock-based compensation
- Contribute to client development and the broader growth of the practice
What you will bring
- 3 years in public accounting, audit, or accounting advisory
- CPA or MBA, with a degree in accounting
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- A track record of managing multiple engagements simultaneously without losing quality
- The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with boards, auditors, and senior finance leaders
- An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to contribute beyond the scope of individual engagements
- Flexibility to travel in line with client requirements
Why this opportunity
- Early and direct exposure to high-stakes transactions that shape businesses
- A client base where genuine technical depth is expected and recognised
- The space to develop a defined specialism within a practice that is still growing
- Senior client relationships accessible from the outset, without layers of hierarchy in the way
- A tight-knit, experienced team where the quality of your work is noticed
