Hemphill County Hospital District is seeking a dedicated and energetic Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Rehabilitation & Therapy Services team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work across outpatient, inpatient, home health, assisted living, and senior living settings.

What You’ll Do:

  • Patient Evaluation & Treatment: Assess patients and develop individualized treatment plans to improve function, mobility, and independence.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide therapy using adaptive equipment, splinting, sensor-motor integration, and more.
  • Supervision: Oversee certified occupational therapy assistants, therapy aides, and students.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely patient records in electronic health systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive techniques, and injury prevention.
  • Participate in home assessments and patient support groups.
  • Design and fabricate splints and adaptive equipment.
  • Provide therapy for neurological integration and traumatic brain injury recovery.
  • Administer prevocational programs to support return-to-work goals.


What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current Texas OT license
  • Registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • BLS certification (can be obtained upon hire)

Preferred:

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
  • One year of experience as a licensed OT (new grads encouraged to apply!)

Physical Demands:

Heavy Physical Demand Level:

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Extended periods of standing and walking
  • Repeated bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching
  • Pushing/pulling up to 300 lbs and lifting up to 50 lbs (with limited assistance)
  • Supporting patients who may become weak or require transfer assistance
