Position Overview

Hemphill County Hospital District is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our Rural Health Clinics. This full-time role will split time between two locationsHarvester Family Medical Clinic in Pampa and Canadian Family Physicians in Canadian. The Nurse Practitioner will be an integral part of our interdisciplinary provider team, delivering high-quality primary care services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, evaluation, and ongoing patient management. The NP will practice under the oversight and collaboration of a licensed physician in accordance with state regulations and standing delegation orders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive medical histories for new patients or authenticate existing histories as needed.
  • Perform physical examinations for new admissions or confirm prior exams upon request.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
  • Consult and collaborate regularly with the supervising physician and initiate referrals to outside medical providers when appropriate.
  • Update and document annual medical histories and physical examinations in patient records.
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation, including findings, orders, and treatment plans; route relevant documentation to the supervising physician for review and signature.
  • Assess immunization status, order necessary vaccines, and maintain updated immunization records for each patient.
  • Provide and document patient education on preventive care, hygiene, physical fitness, birth control, and other health topics.
  • Educate patients and families on medication management and care plans when clinically indicated.
  • Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinic Director and/or Physician Supervisor.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current Texas Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
  • Experience in family medicine or primary care highly preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of primary care standards, rural health clinic operations, and normal human development.
  • Ability to build therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Familiarity with medical record documentation requirements and patient privacy regulations (HIPAA).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
