About the Role
Hempel Real Estate is seeking a highly detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal to support the legal team in connection with commercial real estate transactions, leasing matters, entity governance, and financing activities. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior legal leadership and gain exposure to acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and lease transactions within a dynamic in-house commercial real estate environment. The Paralegal will assist in coordinating and supporting real estate transactions from inception through closing and post-closing. The role includes document preparation, transaction checklist management, deadline tracking, lease administration, and corporate compliance support.
This position plays an important role in maintaining organization and workflow across multiple active transactions while ensuring documentation and deadlines are managed effectively. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career legal professional seeking to build experience in commercial real estate law. This position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer, while fully supporting and working closely with additional legal team members.
Key Responsibilities (are inclusive of but not limited to)
- Prepare and organize documents related to acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions
- Maintain transaction checklists and track key deadlines and milestones across active matters
- Coordinate document execution and obtain signatures from internal and external parties (e.g., counterparties, lenders, title companies)
- Draft and revise leasing documents – lease agreements, amendments, estoppels, and SNDAs – using established templates
- Prepare lease abstracts and track critical lease dates, renewal options, and notice period
- Assist with title, survey, and due diligence review and flag issues
- Draft entity resolutions and maintain corporate records and entity organizational documentation
- Manage legal entity filings, annual renewals, registered agent updates, and compliance tracking across the entity portfolio
- Assemble closing binders and assist with post-closing documentation and follow-up through completion
- Prepare and organize loan and financing documentation, including tracking conditions to closing/funding
- Maintain organized up-to-date transaction files and document management systems
- Serve as a point of coordination with outside counsel, lenders, title companies, and internal teams to support transaction execution
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred
- 0–3 years of experience in a law firm, title company, commercial real estate company, or similar environment
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
- Interest in commercial real estate transactions and legal operations
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly professional
Desired Qualifications & Characteristics
- 3 years of experience in a law firm, title company, commercial real estate company, or similar environment
- Experience with financing or loan documentation is a plus
