Job Summary: The Batch Making Operator is responsible for operating manufacturing equipment, blend solid and liquid raw materials, to produce a wide range of high-performance paints & coatings
Essential Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Summary: The Batch Making Operator is responsible for operating manufacturing equipment, blend solid and liquid raw materials, to produce a wide range of high-performance paints & coatings
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate designated equipment in an efficient, clean and safe manner
- Follow all quality and work practices, all relevant procedures and SOP’s, and all instructions listed on batch tickets
- Keep designated equipment clean and in good working conditions
- Participate and contribute in all improvement initiatives such as 6S, Safety Excellence, Winning Together, Waste reduction, etc.
- Follow all company policies and instructions, including all safety policies
- Report safety and environmental incidents
- Report any raw material shortages
- Report any mechanical and electrical problems
- Report any Quality issues and manufacturing delays
- Provide batch samples to QC lab when required
- Minimize risks and waste
- Attend safety meetings and scheduled training classes
- Maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areas
- Other duties as assigned by Production Leads and Supervisors
- Identify efficiencies
- Enhanced troubleshooting including but not limited to machinery
- Transfer of knowledge (training)
- Complex decision making
- Delegating and assigning tasks
- Must have a High School diploma minimum, or equivalent
- Must be able to manufacture any products listed on the Hempel assortment with no or minimum supervision
- Must be able to provide on-the-job training to new employees
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions with or without a calculator
- Must have mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to safely operate all gas and electric forklifts
- Flexibility required to work extended hours. Must be willing to work different shifts as well as occasional weekends to meet customer requirements
- Raw material understanding
- Good communication skills required to read and write in English
- Must understand the ISO 9001:2000 quality system
- Must have a positive and cooperative attitude
- Must have knowledge of waste solvent labelling system
- Understanding of material adds and timing and knowledge of raw material reactions
- Advance process knowledge
- Vortex knowledge (proper pigment adds) preferred
